James Morris

James Morris of Ayr was an important figure in theatre in the west of Scotland, as theatre owner and impresario.  He left a brief account of some of his activities, almost entirely relating to his involvement with the Theatre Royal in Ayr, in a booklet published in 1872.

It is clear from the correspondence below that Morris was a long-standing friend and supporter of Brooke, having given him some of his early experiences as actor and manager at the theatre in Ayr'  A review from The Spectator will be found on the pages dedicated to Brooke.
