Bill GriersonAs a designer and producer, Grierson was influenced by the shift from scenery based on the standard stage flats that were commonplace in prewar drama, to the three dimensional strucutures and the composite sets that were created as moreeee flexible lighting and new materials became available to the scenic artist.

Working primary in the Civic Theatre in Ayr, Grierson directed many plays that depended on the traditional assemblage of scenic flats.  In his work at Craigie College and at the Ayr Pavilion he introduced composite sets and simple symbolic represnentations that were dependednt on lighting for their atmosphere.

The illustration show a very small number of his productions with the Compass Club and Ayr Intimate Opera.
